Dr. Faleel Jamaldeen

He holds a Master of Business Administration in International Finance from the University of West of Scotland and a Post Graduate Diploma in Islamic Banking and Insurance from the Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance in the UK. Dr. Mohamed Khalid

Dr. Mohamed Khalid currently serves as the Director of the Sociocultural Research Center and an Assistant Professor of Islamic Studies at Effat University. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arabic and Islamic Studies and a Master’s degree in Shari’ah from Nadwat al-‘Ulama, as well as a Master’s in Islamic Studies from the University of Portsmouth and a PhD in Middle Eastern/Islamic Studies from the University of Manchester. He is a Certified Shariah Advisor and Auditor by the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI).

With over ten years of experience in academia, Dr. Mohamed Khalid has taught a diverse range of specialized and interdisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate courses at both Manchester and Effat Universities. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he coordinates the Islamic Studies program and actively participates in various academic and administrative initiatives at the university level.

Dr. Mohamed Khalid’s research interests encompass Modern Middle Eastern history, the interplay between Islamic law and modernity, Qur’anic exegesis, and educational epistemology. He is also an engaged member and advisor on multiple research and consultancy committees, both within the university and on the international stage.

Dr. Umar Mohammed Idris

Dr. Umar Mohammed Idris, is the Founder and CEO of Tiyoma for Islamic Banking and Finance consultancy, has over 20 years combined experience in the private, academia, as well as in the financial services regulation and supervision sectors across Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Dr. Idris has participated in various working groups for the issuance of shariah standards for Islamic financial institutions. He has also been involved in the development and drafting of standards, guidelines and frameworks for academic and financial institution, as well as supervision and regulation of Islamic finance for various countries.

Dr. Idris holds a Ph.D. in Islamic Banking and Finance from the International Islamic University Malaysia, and a Master Degree in Comparative Laws from the same university. He is a Certified Shariah Advisor and Auditor by the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), He is also a member of the Malaysian Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIFP). Dr. Idris is a known Islamic banking and finance consultant, and has been active in providing Islamic finance training and consultancy to charity organizations, businesses and Islamic banks. He also has a number of publications on Islamic banking, sukuk and, shariah compliant modes of investment.

In addition to these corporate engagements, he also held the positions of Associate Professor of Islamic Banking and Finance at Umm Al-Qura University K.S.A; Effat University K.S.A; Islamic University of Minnesota U.S.A; International Islamic University Malaysia and, Almadina International University Malaysia. He has also worked with International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF).
